Mitologias, Solo Show by Beatriz Banha Exhibition text by Gonçalo C Silva

Through a self-reflective and diaristic practice, the everyday life between Lisboa and Évora is reshaped through its silences and the twilight of these “mother-cities”, made asleep by the heat of summer. The objects in Mitologias, bathed in an eclipsing light, acquire a different life, condensing Beatriz’s own universe and speaking to us of a land awaiting lucidity.

Beatriz Banha (1995, Évora) holds a Master’s degree in Photography from Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias, which she completed in 2025. Between 2020 and 2021, she attended the Project Course at Atelier de Lisboa, culminating in the exhibition Duas Águas at Galeria A Ilha, Lisbon. In 2021, she participated in the Circulation(s) festival in Paris and was a finalist in the Vila Franca de Xira Photography Biennial. She has presented solo exhibitions including There is nothing old under the Sun (Galeria da Estação, Braga, 2022), Chão (Salto, Lisbon, 2023, curated by Purga), and Midday Moon (Galeria Diferença, Lisbon, 2025). In 2023, she took part in the first edition of the project Lisboa Mesma Outra Cidade, coordinated by Catarina Botelho and David-Alexandre Guéniot, published by Ghost Editions. She was the winner of the 2nd edition of the Associação Arte deste Século Photography Book Award with the photobook Midday Moon, published by Skinnerboox in 2025. In the same year, she released the publication I have to go I learn by going where, published by Stolen Books.
