The title “Moringue vazio não carrega só vento” points to that symbolic dimension and this exhibition is a reinterpretation and, above all, a celebration of this object and the possibility of a new way of looking at it. The moringues presented in this exhibition don’t carry water, yet they bring the individual experience of each artist, their language, and the dialogue between the popular and the contemporary. They are all new and unique pieces, based on the object while drawing on a variety of inspirations and using different techniques and materials, such as red clay, white clay, porcelain, roller, slab, or hand-building techniques. Bringing the moringue to the present is also launching it into the future. Not as a relic, but as a symbol of other ways of being and sharing. And if it no longer carries water, perhaps it will carry this idea.
